How about some Haiku?

We had a thread going a couple years ago on some haiku so someone would pick a word and the next person would share their Haiku for that word. We did the 5-7-5 sequence and it was a lot of fun thinking these up. So here are couple for you.

Eyes

Piercing through my soul
The rich depths swallow me up
You found my window.

Swans

Wings stretched like magic
Quietly dancing in air
Kissed by morning dew

Do you have any Haiku? Please feel free to share with me, I would love to read it.

A Roomful of Machines - Kristine Ong Muslim

I received this collection of poetry from the author in exchange for an honest review. I thought I would not have time to get to it for a couple of more months since I have several of books to review right now, but I decided to check it out and I found that I got caught up in the poetry that I was reading. I decided I would share my thoughts of this collection of poetry with my readers.

There was some darker poetry that I thought was good and also I found some contemporary and humorous poetry as well. There were a few of what I called the 'death poems' that were both dark and humorous, I enjoyed those a lot, they were probably among my favorites which were Soup, Tea Cup, Center of Gravity, Soul, Wheelchair, and many more. I also discovered many different styles of writing in this collection and I also enjoyed that as well.

The only problem that really bothered me was that sometimes I found it hard to find where the next poem would start. It is on my kindle so maybe that is why it did not have separation between poems, it would be more annoying if it were the same way for a printed copy. Overall I found this collection to be really enjoyable and would gladly read more from this author.

Over Rainbow Bridge - In Memory of Zoey

Over Rainbow Bridge
There’s a place off in the distance
Where God chose lost pets to live
To run and play and frolic
When crossing over Rainbow Bridge

God embraces each type of creature
From the young to the very old
They enjoy bright rays of sunshine
And run down the paths of gold

They all will play together
They have everything they need
And someday we shall meet again
And together we'll forever be

They will all be there to greet us
When our time has come to cross
Reunited with our long lost pets
Our hearts are freed from loss

The Birds Melody

When I sit at my window reading, I love to hear the birds singing their songs, I actually have a poem about this that I wish to share.

The Birds Melody

I listen to the birds
High up in the trees
Thinking they're singing
Their songs just for me

I love watching the birds
When they take to flight
It seems to make my day
So glorious and bright

I gaze out my window
Throughout the day
Just waiting to hear
What the birds have to say

Singing sweet melodies
All the day long
Filling in spaces
Like the words to a song

What a wonderful day
This turned out to be
As I listen to birds
High up in the trees

Catching a glimpse of them
Against a bright sky
As they capture my heart
With their sweet lulluby

Poetry Month

So April is poetry month and I meant to post sooner but just have not gotten around to it, but now I am. This piece is my first published having been published in a poetry book more than a decade ago. This is a piece about questioning someone's love and devotion and how deep it goes.

How Deep is Your Love
How deep is your love
that you proclaim to me
Is it a deep rooted seed,
or deep as the sea
Can you look at me
deep into my eyes
and say I am your soul mate
Or would it be lies
How deep is your love
that you have given to me
Can I keep you forever
Should I set you free
Can you breathe your breath
without my scent
if one day I would say good bye
How deep is your love
for me dear prince
Could you live if I would die

I am With You - For Mom

On March 16 my mom would have been 78 years old. I lost my mom in 1999. While the pain of my loss has lessened considerably it will never cease altogether because of the impact she had on my life. So many little things in life can trigger a memory or a thought of her. My mom had many issues that we really could not define at that time, things we were to young to understand. Over the years I have come to realize that I have now defined what many of those issues were then, that so many people go through today. I will stop myself and say if only we could have understood. I wrote this piece years after because my heart was still so raw from the loss. I miss you mom so much and I wish that I would have taken more time to understand. Happy birthday!

I am With You

I am with you
I’m not far away
The breeze on your skin
Never to stray

I am with you
Just call my name
The soft rustle of leaves
Always the same

I am with you
Just close your eyes
You see me in dreams
Please do not cry

I am with you
Do you feel my heart
Beating with yours
Even though were apart

I am with you
Do you feel my touch
My heart is on fire
I miss you so much

I am with you
Do not dismay
Follow my whispers
For each new today

I am with you
Always for today
For each tomorrow
I am with you…

Wordle Me This

Ok so on The Reverie blog they had a post called "Wordle Me This" where they provide the words and you write your piece using these words. So listed below are the  words that we got to use. Not all of the words have to be used, but I tried to use most of them. This is a pretty short one, but it was fun being creative with someone else's words.

storm
liar
noise
bitter
rampant
thief
lurks
redemption
exposed
consumption
caverns
vestige
revival

So here is what I came up with. Please be gentle. LOL

Internally a storm rages
a malevolent thief lurks
within the caverns of my heart
dispersing its bitter venom
my heart is exposed
while this villain relishes
in its consumption
